This is a good site for getting Watchtowers and checking doctrinal changes:
Maybe you won't come across as many 'losers' there either
i have a question for the regulars on this site which are mainly ex-jws and atheist.
my first question is just for the atheist.
why do you guys spend so much time discussing and researching a book you believe to be fiction?

If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers,
Where's the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?

To be blunt Blue Grass, if you've got nothing better to do than come to this site and whine about how much we all whine, then you're just as much a loser as you claim us to be - if not an even bigger one.
Seriously, go out and get yourself a life.
i think a lot about how i spend my life and what i might be able to do to get more out of it.
the problem, however, is that change is hard.. i'm not content with how society wants us to spend our time and money: getting iphones, going out to eat constantly, going on weekend vacations, buying things on the internet, watching tv, etc.. i try to analyze what i do... but like i said, it's hard to change it.. my life consists of the following:.
waking up: i get up in the morning, my wife has already left for work/school, i get my morning cup of tea and eat a bowl of cereal.
Since your work seems to consist of sitting at a computer most of the day, what would be the chances of you being able to work from home, either part of the week or full time? It might be worth running the idea past your employers.
If you were able to do this, you could get your work done nice and early and do some other stuff with the extra leisure time (from not travelling to/from work) and any downtime you have rather than wasting it being tied to a desk all day - if you do get this opportunity though, make sure that you set aside a strict space for WORK and don't allow it to encroach on HOME - or vice versa.

"there's never been a kingdom given to so much bloodshed as that of christ.".
i think that statement is beyond dispute.. farkel.

Emo, how many of those were wars fought between two nuclear powers?
Immaterial question to the point I was making - that many people seem to have the idea that there has been little bloodshed due to war since WW2.
PS, remember nuclear weapons aren't the only WMD - there are chemical and biological weapons too - that warfare could be going on even as I type (but I don't want to get into conspiracy theories lol!). Also I wonder how many of those countries have depleted uranium tipped bullets in their guns - nuclear warfare doesn't have to be big-style. One bullet at a time will do just as well...
PPS I'm not anti-nuclear either - I do recognise that they have had some stabilising effect on the world, I just disagree that they've prevented as stated 'countless wars and bloodshed'!
just wondering...they ssay too stay away from babylon the great and everything about her.
what about music from bands that claim they're "christian?
" some i can kinda see if they have god in the lyrics, but others just claim it and the songs don't have it in the lyrics.. everyone interprets music differently, don't they?
<---- emo sings "I'm so happy I could slit my wrists"
LOL!
Relient K are one of my top bands, I hadn't heard Sum41 until today - I think I might be listening to some more now though! I agree with you Hikaru, there's a lot of Christian bands out there now whose lyrics fit in quite well with the mainstream scene. I think its quite good at acting as a balance considering some of the lyrics in today's music. As for the connection to Babylon the Great - I think its as connected as you feel it to be - as you wrote, it's in the interpretation. Philippians 4:8 tells us to think on the good and praiseworthy things, so if Christian music lifts your spirit, I see it as ok - but equally, if secular music has that impact on me, that's good too
Here's one of my fave Relient K songs - the lyrics may hit quite strongly (in a good way!) to some folks here who are struggling with the fallout of leaving the org.
here is a goodbye thread for people who have decided to move on and leave jwn.

I will miss you, in spite of how frustrating and annoying you seem to others, I like to see all perspectives of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
Remember, wherever you go and whatever happens in your life, God has His hand on you.
Blessings and peace to you and yours.

to the household of god, israel, and those who go with... may you have peace!.
on many occasions i have observed folks contemplating my lord's words recorded at matthew 26:39 (luke 22:42).
however, he trusted our heavenly father, the most holy one of israel, jah of armies, that it had to be this way... and so offered himself willingly.
Your words remind me of some of my favourite verses from Job 13:15-16:
Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.
Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him.
He also shall be my salvation,
For a hypocrite could not come before Him.
Praise God that you are such a blessing to this place and thank you Shelby for being so willing to share with all

Sad emo, I didn't say that it's prevented all war.
Nope, but you did say this:
Perhaps if you read any books other than the Bible you would realize that those "weapons of mass destruction" are the one thing that has kept humanity out of countless wars and bloodshed.
How much war and bloodshed do you expect to see before it becomes 'countless'?
